Abstract

The article adresses urban design as a special direction of urbanists` and designers` professional activity, as the development of the environmental approach to the city planning at a new level of understanding, where the city itself is the object of urban studies. Herewith the urban studies is interpreted as a phenomenon that is much morе complicated than the architecture or city planning. The city is considered as a complex system, consisting of numerous continuously interacting units, not as just a collection of such units. The level of interconnectivity of elements in the urban environment is extremely high, resulting in the incorporation of the urban system inside an even more complex supersystem. Urban studies are aimed at researching specific features and regularities of that interconnectivity. Contemporary urban studies is a science researching the interaction between human beings and elements of urban environment, and the features of the city, which fulfill all its citizens` needs. The article combines scientific data at the junction of architecture and social sciences with practical methods and approaches.

The reconstruction of the cities of Ukraine proposed based on a new culture of mobility, taking into account the requirements of urban planning and design for the urban environment, which includes many integrated systems, one of which is transport "movement - peace". The movement of traffic flow in the space of streets and roads is adequate to the movement of a running plane wave. All flow variables have wave properties. The main five types of one-dimensional scalar wave equations substantiated and examples of their use in the design of structures of street and road networks, highways and in the design of traffic organization are given. The presence of return waves confirmed by natural observations. Design methods, algorithms and programs for organizing the movement of groups of cars on city highways developed, and recommendations have made for changing and supplementing the relevant sections of the DBN. It recommended using the new criteria (traffic distribution assessment coefficient) in the practice of designing complex transport systems.
